VMware View 4 Multiple Monitor with PCoIP

January 22, 2010

After testing with the new PCoIP protocol I have to say that this is really cool! Of course there are also some disadvantages. Do you expect that every new technology is perfectly build in one time?

In comparison with VMware View 4 over RDP you will astonish about the better performance of particularly multimedia. Also in an environment with two physical monitors you can play streamed movies on each screen as well.

You might also notice, once connected to a virtual desktop, that the display settings tab in Windows is disabled. In some cases, it might be desirable to override this.

This can be done by changing the standard Windows registry setting for controlling the display settings.

See[HKEY_CURRENT_USER or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
and the NoDispSettingsPage value.

On implementation the known issues from the VMware View Manager 4.0 Release Notes can also be easy.
