Thinstalled VMware Infrastructure Client

A colleague of me, Duncan Epping (www.yellow-bricks.com) attend me at the VMware Blog where lots of questions are about the possibility of Thinstalling the VMware Infrastructure Client. Well, I give it a try and it all works fine! If you want to Thinstall your own VMware Infrastructure Client you can follow the following instruction. I Thinstalled using a Windows XP Service Pack 2 machine with Thinstall version 3.300.

After the installation of Thinstall you can start “Setup Capture” from the “Start menu”.
Run the “Pre-Install Scan” and Install the VMware Infrastructure Client Setup (VMware-viclient.exe)

If you don’t have .NET Framework 2.0 installed on your system you will get a warning 25070 message. Click OK and go on with the installation.

In the VMware Infrastructure Client 2.5 welcome screen click Next. Accept the License agreement and fill in your Uer Name and Organization. Install the product to the default location. While installing VMware Infrastructure Client also .NET Framework 2.0 will automically be installed.

After the reboot, which is required by the application, Thinstall Setup Capture can load the previously stored starting snapshot and continue installation process. At last of the Capture process run the “Post-Install Scan”.

Run the file Build.bat. A directory Bin is created with one single executable file: VMware Infrastructure Client.exe

Now it is done! Here is your own Thinstalled VMware Infrastructure Client

    Hi,

    same capture sequence with packager 4.0.200,
    when i tried to open remote console i have “unknow MKS event” error

    the exakt same erorr here when i’m trying to run the thinapped version of VIC . . that disturbs me, cant remote connect to systems :( how to fix this?
